Emily Amara Gordon is an Immigration Attorney at Amara Law, LLC where she represents clients in family-based immigration cases and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases. Emily opened her immigration law firm in 2013, the day after being sworn into the Massachusetts Bar.
Emily currently serves as the Chair of the ABA Law Practice Division’s Outreach- Membership Engagement Committee, Vice Chair of the Legal Technology Resource Center (LTRC) Board, and a member of the Law Practice Division’s Counsel. She also serves as a member of the ABA Commission on Immigration.
Emily has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 2012 where she served on the AILA National Innovation & Technology Committee (2021-2024) and the Product Ideation Subcommittee (2022-2024).
In 2023, Emily launched Amara Innovation where she helps lawyers implement innovative solutions to future-proof their law firms and build a positive and productive law firm culture.
Emily has spoken about immigration law, legal technology, the future of law, innovation, firm culture, and client communication at ABA TECHSHOW, ABA Lawyer Mastermind Series, ABA Women of Legal Tech, ABA Law Practice CLEs, Virginia State Bar Tech Show, New England Bar Association Annual Meeting, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE), Massachusetts Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, the AILA Annual and the AILA New England Conferences, and Legal Talk Network’s Legal Toolkit.
Emily graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Spanish Language & Literature, a minor in French Studies, and a citation in the CIVICUS program. She holds a J.D. from New England Law | Boston where she was a Dean’s Merit Scholarship recipient.
Outside of law and tech, Emily is a fan of music, fashion, and dogs, and has a background as a competitive classical pianist.
