Cynthia Thomas


Cynthia Thomas is owner of PLMC & Associates, a law firm management consulting company which provides best practices in human resource and financial/operations management to small and midsize firms. With over 20 years’ experience in the role as a law firm Administrative Director and Chief Financial Officer, and certified Six Sigma Champion with white and green belts, she often serves interim law firm CFO/COO, as well as coaches lawyers on creating and growing a sustainable law firm.

Passionate and committed to solving problems effectively and efficiently, Cynthia often speaks and writes about law firm operations and management.

Cynthia is the co-author of ABA’s best seller Law Office Policies, Procedures, and Operations Manual, 7th ed. (ABA 2022).  She is the associate editor of ABA’s Law Practice Division Law Practice magazine and the vice chair of the ABA LP Lawyer Leadership and Management Committee where she was a pioneer in creating the ABA LP Lawyer Leadership Mastermind Series and Resource Center.  Cynthia is also a member of the ABA’s Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division, Magazine/ GPSolo eReport Board, as well as a board member of the ALA Greater Los Angeles chapter.

Cynthia is a native California and enjoys hiking with her Dalmatian, Norco.
