Prior to her work at the ABA, she was a Manager of Diversity & Inclusion Administration at YMCA of the USA, providing service delivery and training as the first point of contact for 800+ YMCA associations, and facilitating dozens of trainings for 1000+ YMCA staff and volunteers.
Safaya has made it her mission to affect change through impactful policies, social justice education, and starting conversations on challenging but necessary topics. Safaya has led diversity & inclusion trainings covering topics such as race, gender, sexual orientation, faith/religion, disability, immigration, class, and intersectionality.
She has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Wellesley College. A fan of 1000 piece puzzles, she hails from Chicagoland.
While women and people of color now represent large portions of law students and associates, yet they remain significantly underrepresented at higher levels. Inclusive leadership, embracing diverse perspectives and changing culture to reflect them, is necessary for change.
