Keynote: Public Hearing on Proposals to Amend Rules of Professional Conduct 5.4 and 5.5

Grand Ballroom EF

Should Rules of Professional Conduct be relaxed to address the growing access to justice problem and other challenges affecting legal services delivery in our state?  This already has happened in Arizona and Utah. The supreme court of the fictional state of Centralia has under consideration similar proposals to modify its attorney Rules of Professional Conduct. The court has asked its rules committee to convene a hearing of experts and stakeholders to discuss policy considerations around the proposed amendments.  This interactive session will simulate that hearing. The expert panel will debate specific policy questions formulated by the justices.  In addition, audience members will be asked to take on the viewpoints and interests of assigned stakeholders and advocate for their positions.  Come and take part in the debate!
