What the Heck is this Case About?! A New Perspective on Using Timelines/Chronologies/Transcript Management

This session will demo software applications designed to help clarify and visually present the issues in your case.  Apps include: Casemap/Chronology Tools, CaseMap/TimeMap, Timeline 3D, PowerPoint and transcript mangagement tools. Discussion of issue coding and tablet apps will round out this packed session.

Judge Gerald Bruce Lee

United States District Court, Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria, VA

Judge Lee was confirmed as a United States District Judge in the Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria Division on October 8, 1998. He is well known throughout the Virginia legal community for his handling of complex civil cases, his efforts to improve the court's use of technology, and his commitment to mentorship and community service.

In 1973, Judge Lee received his undergraduate degree in communications from The American University, Washington, D.C. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from The Washington College of Law at The American University in 1976.

Prior to going on the bench, Judge Lee was a trial lawyer for fifteen years, representing individuals and businesses in civil and criminal cases. He was a partner at Cohen, Dunn & Sinclair, P.C., an Alexandria Virginia, law firm. In 1990, while he was in practice, then Virginia Governor Wilder appointed him to serve on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the managers of Washington Dulles and Washington National Airports.

He is an active member of the profession and he has served in several leadership roles. He was an elected member of the Virginia State Bar Council, Chairman of the General Practice of Law Section of the Virginia State Bar, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee of the American Bar Association General Practice Section. He is a past president of the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys Association and The George Mason American Inn of Court.


Daniel J. Siegel

Integrated Technology Services, LLC, Havertown, PA

Often called the "Geek Lawyer" of the "Gadget Guru," Mr. Siegel wears two hats - he is a practicing attorney and also a full-time technology consultant. As a consultant, Mr. Siegel works with attorneys and their staffs to use technology more efficiently while avoiding the technical jargon that can be a barrier to understanding and adoption. Mr. Siegel is the founder and President of Integrated Technology Services, LLC, a consulting service for attorneys based in suburban Philadelphia and in Maine; ITS works with attorneys throughout the country. Mr. Siegel is also the principal of the Law Offices of Daniel J. Siegel, LLC, with offices in Havertown, Pennsylvania and Portland, Maine. He is the author of Android Apps in One Hour for Lawyers and The Lawyer's Guide to CaseMap, both published by the American Bar Association Law Practice Management Section, Changing Law Firms: Ethical Guidance for Pennsylvania Law Firms & Attorneys, published by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, and Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Law - The Basics. He has served as a writer, lecturer and course planner (on technology, civil litigation, workers' compensation, ethics, personal injury and other matters) for the American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations, and the American, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Associations. He is also the technology columnist for Trial, monthly magazine of the American Trial Lawyers Association, and for The Philadelphia Lawyer, the quarterly magazine of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
