Michael L. Spekter is a long time District of Columbia solo practitioner specializing in federal employment law and appellate practice. During his career he has been responsible for a number of significant employment law verdicts, and appellate decisions at the Merit Systems Protection Board , the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, including one of the seminal victories for District of Columbia Whistle Blowers in the Case of Okyiri v. Raphael and numerous federal decisions that changed the rights of federal retirees. He is also a known advocate for the employment rights of cancer patients, and has presented testimony to Congress on that topic.

An adjunct professor at both the University of Baltimore School of Law and American University Washington College of Law, Mr. Spekter teaches Law Practice Management, and legal writing and at UB coaches the employment law moot court team.

He is an active member of the American Bar Association’s Law Practice Management Division, where he serves as the law school liaison for the Division’s Membership Committee where he serves as a member of the council, and a member of the publishing board and outreach committees.
